Nasarawa Amazons began their 2025 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Super Six campaign on a high note, coming from behind to defeat Naija Ratels 2-1 in a thrilling opener at the Ikenne Sports Complex.
Naija Ratels took an early lead in the 13th minute through Tsebee Rita, stunning the Lafia-based side. But the Amazons quickly regrouped, with star striker Janet Akekoromowei equalizing with her 10th goal of the season.
The winning moment came in the 55th minute when Josephine Mathias rose highest to head home from a corner, sealing a vital win for the Amazons.
Nasarawa Amazons will look to build on this momentum when they face Bayelsa Queens on Monday, 12th May 2025, while Naija Ratels aim to bounce back against Remo Stars Ladies.
