Nigeria’s Super Eagles suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat to Guinea-Bissau on Tuesday night, September 29, 2026, as the Djurtus produced a dominant performance at the Estádio 24 de Setembro in Bissau.
Goals from Franculino Djú, Mama Baldé and Álvaro Djaló gave Guinea-Bissau a second consecutive victory in Group L and left Nigeria facing an early setback in their bid to qualify for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

According to Chelle, Guinea-Bissau approached the contest with greater motivation and intensity, leaving Nigeria unable to find an effective response.
Despite the heavy defeat, the coach maintained that Nigeria’s qualifying campaign remains alive and highlighted the upcoming fixtures against Tanzania as an opportunity to recover.

The defeat leaves Nigeria with three points from their opening two matches, while Guinea-Bissau move to six points at the top of the group.
