Both sides started brilliantly with the first chance coming Plateau United’s way through Golbe Elisa’s free kick in the early minutes of the game. The Sky Blue Stars responded well to the challenge by having it’s first chance to Dufegha Eric after his attempt was saved by Plateau’s Dele Ajiboye.
The best chance for the home team came in through Kabiru Umar but he plays wide before Daniel Itodo’s throw forced Ndukwe Chizoba to a wonderful save. Minutes after the save, Daniel Itodo got another long throw that locate Hamzat Owolabi, he calmly jab inside the net to give the home side the lead.
Ndukwe Chizoba came to the rescue of the Sky Blue Stars by denying another opportunity from Daniel Itodo’s throw to double the lead for the Peace boys. Ekene Awazie made an immediate impact when he replaced Nurudeen Ibrahim, he got a chance to get an equaliser for the visitors but his attempt was denied by the woodwork.
In the closing minutes of the game, Mbaoma Victor, Salefu Ochowechi and Awazie Ekene connect well to locate Ganda Samuel, he flashes the ball but Hamisu Sale clears to deny the Sky Blue Stars.
The visitors tried all efforts to get a goal before the end of the game but the chances didn’t produce an equaliser for the Sky Blue Stars.
“We worked so hard but for us to have conceded such goal is very painful, we tried so hard to neutralise the long throw but a little lost of concentration cost us the goal.”
“We could have done better, the field didn’t assist us. We play possession football but the field didn’t make us play our pattern and it’s just unfortunate.”
“We will keep our heads up and keep fighting till the last day of the league.” Osho assured.
