Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi is reportedly aiming for a return to the English Premier League this summer, with at least two clubs including a newly promoted side monitoring his situation closely.
The 29-year-old defensive midfielder joined Turkish giants Beşiktaş J.K. from Leicester City in August 2025 in a deal worth around €8–9.5 million, but his stay in Istanbul may be short-lived as the club undergoes a squad reshuffle.
Beşiktaş open to sale

Reports from Turkish and Nigerian sources indicate that Beşiktaş are willing to sell Ndidi for a fee in the region of €10 million or more, seeking to recoup and potentially profit from their investment just one year after signing him.
The midfielder featured regularly during his debut season in Turkey and was handed a leadership role, but the club’s ongoing restructuring has placed several senior players, including Ndidi, under review.
Preference for Europe over Saudi Arabia
Despite interest from clubs in the Saudi Pro League offering lucrative contracts, Ndidi is understood to prioritise remaining in Europe.
Sources suggest the midfielder is focused on maintaining a competitive playing environment, especially after being named captain of the Super Eagles, a role that demands consistent performances at a high level.
He is also said to have attracted enquiries from clubs in Germany and Italy, while Premier League interest remains the most significant factor in his thinking.
Premier League return in sight

Ndidi previously spent over eight years at Leicester City, where he established himself as one of the league’s most consistent defensive midfielders, earning a reputation for elite ball-winning ability and tactical discipline.
A potential return to England would mark a full-circle moment in his career, particularly as he continues to play a central leadership role for Nigeria under head coach Eric Chelle.
What happens next?
With the summer transfer window open, Ndidi’s representatives are expected to assess offers across Europe before making a final decision. Beşiktaş are also preparing contingency plans should his departure be confirmed.
A move back to the Premier League would not only boost Ndidi’s club career but also strengthen his standing as a key figure in Nigeria’s national team setup ahead of upcoming international competitions.
