Nigerian midfielder Daniel Daga continued his impressive return to action by scoring in consecutive Norwegian Eliteserien matches, finding the net in Molde FK’s entertaining 3-3 draw against Sarpsborg 08 on Sunday.
The 19-year-old was on target at Aker Stadion, reacting quickest at the back post to head home from close range after Emil Breivik flicked on a corner. His goal gave Molde their third of the afternoon in a pulsating six-goal contest, earning the hosts a share of the spoils.
It was Daga’s second league goal in as many games and his third across all competitions this season, underlining his growing influence in Molde’s midfield.
The former Flying Eagles star had also scored a week earlier in Molde’s 4-2 comeback victory over KFUM Oslo. After the home side struck within the opening minute, Daga restored parity in the 40th minute before Molde went on to secure an emphatic win.
That goal carried special significance for the Nigerian, who was overcome with emotion after ending a lengthy spell away from competitive football.
“It’s been a long time since I played. It was a big moment for me. I’m grateful to God,” Daga said after the match.
The teenager’s recent performances mark an encouraging return following a difficult period off the pitch. Daga, who joined Molde from Nigeria in January 2025, was suspended by the club earlier this year after a legal case in Norway. However, in July 2026, the Frostating Court of Appeal unanimously overturned the earlier conviction, clearing the midfielder. Molde subsequently reinstated him, making him available for first-team selection once again.
Since returning, Daga has wasted little time in reminding supporters of his quality. His energetic displays and eye for goal have earned praise from fans and Nigerian football observers, with many noting how seamlessly he has settled back into the Molde side.
Born in Makurdi, Benue State, Daga developed through the ranks of One Rocket, Dakkada, and Enyimba before securing his move to Norway. He has also represented Nigeria at the under-20 level, where his composure, work rate, and versatility established him as one of the country’s brightest midfield prospects.
