Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika has completed a permanent move to Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt from Belgian champions Club Brugge, bringing an end to a successful four-year spell in Belgium.
The 25-year-old signed a long-term contract with the German club until 30 June 2031, with the transfer reportedly worth around €9 million. The deal was officially completed on 2 August 2026.
Onyedika arrives in Germany after establishing himself as one of the Belgian Pro League’s most consistent midfielders. Since joining Club Brugge from Danish side FC Midtjylland in 2022, the Nigerian made 183 appearances in all competitions, scoring nine goals and providing six assists.
During his time in Bruges, the defensive midfielder helped the club win two Belgian Pro League titles (2023-24 and 2025-26), the Belgian Cup in 2025, and the Belgian Super Cup, cementing his reputation as a dependable performer in the heart of midfield.
Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krösche expressed his delight at securing the Nigerian international, highlighting his physicality, tactical intelligence, and remarkable consistency.
The Bundesliga club views Onyedika as a key addition to reinforce its midfield ahead of the new campaign. Standing at 1.84 metres, the Imo State-born midfielder is renowned for his ball-winning ability, positional awareness, and composure in possession, qualities that have made him one of Nigeria’s most reliable players in recent years.
On the international stage, Onyedika has earned 26 caps for the Super Eagles and has become a regular fixture in Nigeria’s midfield. His move to Germany marks another significant step in his European journey after successful spells in Denmark and Belgium.
Frankfurt had tracked the midfielder during previous transfer windows, but negotiations only reached a breakthrough this summer as he entered the final year of his contract with Club Brugge.
The transfer offers Onyedika the opportunity to showcase his abilities in one of Europe’s top five leagues while providing Frankfurt with an experienced and disciplined presence in midfield as they aim to improve on last season’s Bundesliga campaign.
