The curtain is set to fall on the 9th edition of the National Youth Games this Saturday, September 6, 2025, with a highly anticipated closing ceremony at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Delta State.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be represented by the Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Mallam Shehu Dikko, at the ceremony. He will be joined by the Executive Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori, and the Director General of the NSC, and Chairman of the Main Organizing Committee, Hon. Bukola Olopade. A host of dignitaries, sports administrators, and delegations from across the country are also expected to attend the grand finale.
Before the official closing, the day will feature the final slate of events — a thrilling lineup of relay races that have traditionally delivered unforgettable moments. Spectators can look forward to the 4x100m (male and female), 4x400m (male, female, and mixed relay), and the medley relays (male and female) as Nigeria’s brightest young athletes vie for glory.
As of Friday, Team Lagos leads the medals table with 46 gold, 37 silver, and 18 bronze medals. Edo State follows in second with 33 gold, 11 silver, and 20 bronze, while the host state, Delta, occupies third place with 26 gold, 33 silver, and 32 bronze medals.
