Italian-Nigerian full-back Michael Kayode delivered a standout performance to help Brentford kick off their 2026/27 Premier League season with a dominant 3-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
Keane Lewis-Potter broke the deadlock 12 minutes in, and Vitaly Janelt doubled the Bees’ advantage just past the half-hour mark. Early in the second half, Kayode sealed the victory by pouncing on a loose ball in the 49th minute, driving his shot past Spurs keeper Antonín Kinský.
Throughout his 76-minute appearance before being subbed off for Aaron Hickey, Kayode was a constant menace along the right wing while remaining defensively sound. His dangerous long throw-ins repeatedly pinned Tottenham deep into their own box, offering Brentford an extra tactical edge in attack. Although Igor Thiago missed a 55th-minute penalty, Brentford controlled the rest of the match with ease, frustrating Spurs to hold onto a clean sheet.
