Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare appears to be edging closer to an exit from Wolverhampton Wanderers after being left out of the club’s squad for their pre-season training camp in Portugal, intensifying speculation over his future.
The 25-year-old Super Eagles forward was notably absent as Wolves departed for Portugal, with multiple reports suggesting the omission is linked to ongoing transfer negotiations.
Interest in Arokodare has grown in recent weeks, with Serie A side Fiorentina and Turkish giants Trabzonspor both submitting offers for the towering striker. While Wolves are believed to have rejected the initial bids, reports indicate the Nigerian is keen on a move to Italy and has little interest in joining the Turkish Süper Lig.

Standing at 6ft 6in (1.98m), Arokodare joined Wolves from Belgian side KRC Genk in September 2025 for a reported £23.4 million after an outstanding campaign in Belgium, where he scored 21 league goals.
However, his first season in English football proved challenging. The powerful striker managed three goals in 33 appearances as Wolves endured a disappointing campaign that ended in relegation from the Premier League to the Championship.
With the club now preparing for life in England’s second tier under new management, Wolves are reportedly open to selling Arokodare this summer. Reports suggest the Midlands club value the Nigerian at around £15 million as they seek to reshape their squad ahead of the 2026/27 Championship season.
Fiorentina remain the frontrunners for his signature after an initial proposal believed to include a loan with an option to buy was rejected. The Italian club are expected to return with an improved offer as negotiations continue.
Although Arokodare reported back for pre-season training last week, his omission from the squad travelling to Portugal has further fuelled speculation that a transfer could be completed in the coming days.
A move to Serie A could provide the Nigerian international with the fresh start he needs after a difficult spell in England. His physical dominance, aerial ability, and hold-up play are attributes that many believe would suit the tactical demands of Italian football.
For Wolves, a permanent departure would allow the club to recover a significant portion of their investment while creating room for further reinforcements as they target an immediate return to the Premier League.
With pre-season already underway and transfer discussions gathering pace, the coming weeks are expected to be decisive in determining the next destination of one of Nigeria’s most powerful attacking talents.
Nigerian football fans will be watching closely as Tolu Arokodare looks set to begin the next chapter of his European career.
