Coach Chinenye Ashiegbu has expressed satisfaction with the performance, attitude and overall development of players participating in the Springsoca United Summer Camp 2026 in Lagos, describing the response of the young footballers as encouraging and a positive indication of the academy’s player-development philosophy.
The ongoing summer camp, themed “Legends Meet Future Stars,” taking place at the Legacy Pitch, National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos. The programme brings together young players aged between 5 and 23 years for an intensive period of football training, competitive activities, talent identification and professional exposure.
Coach Chinenye Ashiegbu praised the players for their commitment to training and their willingness to absorb tactical and technical instructions from the coaching team.
She noted that the value of a football camp should not be measured solely by individual skill or match results, but also by how quickly players learn, adapt and demonstrate discipline within a structured football environment.
In her words, “I am satisfied with the performance of the players so far. We have seen good commitment, discipline and a strong willingness to learn.
“There are areas that still require improvement, which is normal at this stage of their development, but the players have shown encouraging qualities. What is important is that they are listening, asking questions, responding to instructions and trying to apply what they are learning on the pitch.”
Coach Chinenye believes the competitive environment at the camp is helping players understand the importance of decision-making, positional discipline, teamwork and consistency.
Springsoca United Summer Camp has been structured to provide players with a combination of intensive football training, competitive challenges and the training sessions has focused on areas including technique, speed, game intelligence and tactical understanding, while daily challenges give players opportunities to test their creativity and competitiveness.
Furthermore Coach Chinenye said, the exposure is important because young players must learn to perform in an environments where expectations are high and opportunities have to be earned, the development philosophy extends beyond technical football ability.
The programmes are basically designed around different physical and cognitive stages of young players, with its development pathway divided into Grassroots Foundation, Youth Development Squad and Elite Pathway categories.
As the summer camp enters its decisive stages, Coach Chinenye believes the players must continue to embrace the learning process and maintain the intensity demonstrated during the opening sessions.
The emphasis, she said, should remain on continuous improvement rather than immediate results, also she challenged the young players to remain disciplined, competitive and receptive to constructive criticism, stressing that talent alone is not enough to succeed at the highest level.
Springsoca United Academy ultimate objective remains the creation of a sustainable pathway for talented young footballers in Lagos and across Nigeria.
