NPFL: Nasarawa United To Face Disciplinary Action Over Fans’ Misconduct

By Sport Flames 1 Min Read

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has imposed a ₦6 million fine on Nasarawa United and ordered the club to play its remaining home matches at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe.

The disciplinary action comes in response to the violent conduct of the club’s supporters during their Week 33 match against Plateau United at the Lafia Township Stadium.

According to the NPFL, the sanctions were based on confirmed reports of an assault on Plateau United player, Vincent Temitope, and attempted harassment of match officials.

The league body cited breaches of Rules B13.52, B13.22, C9, and C11 in a four-count charge against the club.

In addition to the fines, Nasarawa United’s home ground in Lafia has been suspended, and all remaining home fixtures will now be played in Gombe.

NPFL Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi, who signed the disciplinary notice, emphasized the league’s zero-tolerance stance on misconduct.

The club has been given 48 hours to either accept the sanctions in writing or request a hearing before a disciplinary panel.
