NWFL Reveals New Dates and Venue for 2025 Nationwide Tournament

The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has announced the revised dates and venue for the 2025 NWFL Nationwide competition. The championship will now take place from October 10 to 17, 2025, at the Bwari Township Stadium in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory.

In a statement released on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, NWFL Chief Operating Officer Modupe Shabi confirmed that the tournament will feature ten teams, split into two groups of five. Shabi described the competition as an important platform for emerging clubs looking to progress through the league structure.

“The Nationwide competition continues to be a vital opportunity for clubs across the country to showcase their talent and advance in the league system. Our goal is to ensure it remains competitive, transparent, and successful,” said Shabi.

The tournament will kick off with team arrivals and a pre-match technical meeting on October 10, with the first set of matches scheduled for October 11. The fixtures will continue on October 13, 14, 16, and 17, with October 12 and 15 set aside as rest days.

Shabi highlighted the significance of the event for the growth of women’s football in Nigeria: “At the end of the competition, the two top teams from each group will be promoted to the NWFL Championship, providing an exciting incentive for all participating clubs.”

She concluded by wishing the teams the best of luck and expressed excitement for what promises to be an eventful week of women’s football in the Federal Capital Territory.

The teams have been drawn into two groups. Group A includes Osklean FC (Rivers State), Rangers Women FC (Enugu State), Plateau Queens FC (Plateau State), DreamStars Ladies FC (Lagos State), and C2E Sports Academy (Abia State). Group B consists of Sporting Angels FC (Rivers State), Alexander Queens FC (Enugu State), Rosaria Victrix FC (Imo State), NAF Queens FC (Abuja), and Solo Wonders FC (Akwa Ibom State).

Samuel Ahmadu, Media Director of the Nigeria Women Football League, signed off on the announcement, expressing confidence in the tournament’s success and the opportunity it provides for the clubs involved.
