Beach Volleyball: Nigerian youth teams set sights on beach volleyball glory

Nigeria has officially announced the two teams that will represent the nation at the CAVB U18 Youth Beach Volleyball Cup, a prestigious tournament set to take place in Banjul from September 2 to 7, 2026.

The men’s team features the promising duo of Isaac James and Bobai Andrew, while the women’s team is comprised of Pamela Bawa and Ifechukwu Odoh. Both teams will be under the guidance of national team coach John Iwerima, who will lead the young athletes in what is expected to be a highly competitive event.

In a show of confidence, Coach Iwerima expressed his belief in his players’ ability to succeed. “We have prepared well, and I believe this team has what it takes to win the tournament. Nigeria is going to Banjul to compete and to come back with the trophy,” he stated.

According to the President of the CAVB Beach Volleyball Commission, the Nigerian delegation is scheduled to arrive in Banjul today, September 3. He highlighted the significance of the competition, noting its critical role in shaping the future of African beach volleyball and its aim to prepare teams for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Senegal.
