Nigerian forward Edna Imade is on the verge of completing a major transfer to German powerhouse Bayern Munich Femenino.
The 24-year-old, born in Morocco but raised in Seville, Spain, has enjoyed a breakthrough season with Granada CF in Spain’s Liga F, scoring 13 goals in 29 league appearances. Her outstanding form earned her the Player of the Month award in December 2024, ahead of some of the top talents from Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Imade’s journey to professional football is a story of perseverance. Her Nigerian parents fled the country before her birth, settling in Spain, where she started playing football at six years old. She played in boys’ teams and indoor leagues, netting nearly 100 goals in two seasons for Nervión. Before joining Granada in 2023, she also featured for Málaga CF Femenino and Cacereño Femenino.
Eligible to represent Spain or Morocco at the international level, Imade has expressed a strong desire to play for Nigeria’s Super Falcons, joining the likes of Toni Payne and Ashley Plumptre, who chose Nigeria over other national teams.
Bayern Munich reportedly plans to trigger the release clause in her contract with Granada, with the transfer expected to be finalized soon. There are indications she may be loaned back to a Spanish club for the upcoming season to gain more experience and regular playing time.
This signing fits Bayern’s approach of nurturing young talent to strengthen their squad and compete at the highest levels of women’s football.
