Paris Saint-Germain Féminines secured their place in the UEFA Women’s Champions League league phase after overcoming Eintracht Frankfurt 5-1 after extra time in a dramatic second-leg qualifying clash on Wednesday night.
The victory saw PSG progress 6-2 on aggregate following a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Germany.
Merveille Kanjinga opened the scoring in the 36th minute before Frankfurt hit back through Rebecka Blomqvist in the 76th minute, despite being reduced to 10 players after Hayley Raso received her second yellow card in the 66th minute.
With the tie level on the night, PSG eventually took control in extra time.
Kanjinga restored the French side’s advantage in the 95th minute before captain Sakina Karchaoui extended the lead in the 105th minute.
Karchaoui completed her brace from the penalty spot in the 113th minute, putting PSG firmly in control before Nigerian forward Rasheedat Ajibade added the finishing touch in stoppage time.
Ajibade, who came off the bench in the 79th minute, found the net in the first minute of added time in extra time, calmly converting a right-footed effort from the centre of the box following an assist from Marie Estella Lafontaine.
The Super Falcons captain celebrated in familiar fashion, lifting her jersey to reveal the word “Jesus” written on her undershirt as she publicly expressed her Christian faith.
Ajibade joined PSG from Atlético Madrid in the summer of 2025 and has since taken on an important role with the French giants, wearing the club’s prestigious No. 10 shirt.
Her latest goal capped a memorable night for the Parisiennes, who had to overcome a determined Frankfurt side and the pressure of extra time to secure their place among Europe’s elite.
The qualification means PSG will join fellow French clubs OL Lyonnes and Paris FC in the 2026/27 UEFA Women’s Champions League league phase.
For Ajibade and her teammates, the hard-fought victory represents an important step in PSG’s quest for European success after disappointing campaigns in recent seasons.
