Following a high-stakes end-of-season board meeting at the Beyond Limits FC auditorium, the Nigeria National League (NNL) has officially ratified the promotion and relegation lists for the 2025/2026 season, signaling a significant shift in the landscape of Nigerian club football.
Four clubs have successfully navigated the rigors of the second tier to secure their spots in the elite Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL). The board confirmed the promotion of:
Doma FC 
Sporting Lagos
Ranchers Bees
Inter Lagos
In a stark contrast to the celebrations of the promoted quartet, ten clubs have been condemned to the Nationwide League One (NLO) following a season of underperformance. The relegated sides include:
Northern/Central Region: Gombe Utd FC, Sporting Supreme FC, Mighty Jets, City FC, and Dakkada FC.
Southern/Eastern Region: Abia Comets FC, Gateway FC, First Bank FC, Osun United FC, and Rovers Football Club.
In a communiqué released following the Tuesday session, the Board extended its gratitude to NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau for his strategic leadership and unwavering interest in elevating the NNL’s status. Special recognition was also given to Hon. Kunle Soname for hosting the 2026 Super 4 competition at the ultra-modern Remo Stars Stadium.
The NNL leadership further lauded the synergy between the board and the National Association of League Commissioners (NALCOMA), expressing optimism that this collaboration would solidify during the upcoming 2026/2027 campaign. While acknowledging the proactive efforts of referees and match commissioners, the board noted that “more room for improvement” remains a priority for officiating standards.
In a resounding endorsement of current management, the board passed a unanimous vote of confidence on NNL Chairman Mr. George Aluo, citing his transparency and the transformative leadership style he has brought to the league.
