PSV Eindhoven have secured the future of promising Nigeria-eligible winger Samuel Dumbili, with the 18-year-old signing a new two-year contract that will keep him at the Dutch club until the summer of 2028.
The new deal comes just weeks after Dumbili’s previous professional contract expired at the end of June, reaffirming PSV’s belief in one of the academy’s brightest attacking talents.
Having already resumed pre-season preparations, the youngster is currently training with Jong PSV as he looks to continue his development and push for senior opportunities.
Born in Mol, Belgium, on May 19, 2008, Dumbili joined the PSV Academy at the age of 10 and has progressed through every level of the club’s youth system.
He signed his first professional contract in 2024 and has since earned a reputation as an exciting winger blessed with explosive pace, impressive technical ability, and the confidence to take on defenders in one-on-one situations.
In announcing the contract extension, PSV described Dumbili as a “dangerous attacker on the flanks”, highlighting his speed and attacking threat as key qualities that make him one of the club’s most promising young prospects.
On the international stage, Dumbili has represented the Netherlands at Under-15, Under-16, Under-17, and Under-18 levels after previously featuring for Belgium’s youth teams.
Despite his involvement with both European nations at the youth level, the talented winger remains eligible to represent Nigeria through his family heritage, leaving the door open for a future switch to the Super Eagles should he decide to commit to the three-time African champions.
The contract extension also comes shortly after his younger brother, Nathan Dumbili, departed PSV following the expiration of his own deal with the club.
For Samuel, however, the focus now shifts to making the next step in his career.
The teenager is expected to feature prominently for Jong PSV during the 2026/27 campaign as he continues his progression towards first-team football.
With PSV maintaining a strong reputation for developing young talent, Dumbili will be hoping his new contract provides the platform to break into the senior squad in the coming seasons.
Meanwhile, Nigerian football supporters will be keeping a close eye on his progress, with the pacey winger remaining one of several highly rated dual-national youngsters who could strengthen the Super Eagles in the future.
