Nigeria Premier Football League side Barau FC has strengthened their squad ahead of the 2026/27 season with the signing of midfield duo Ahmadu Liman and Idris Sa’idu from Niger Tornadoes.
The Kano-based club confirmed the arrivals on Tuesday through its official X account, welcoming both players to the “Maliya Boys” family with promotional images of the pair in Barau FC’s purple and white colours.
“Ahmadu Liman and Idris Sa’idu have joined us from Niger Tornadoes. Welcome to the Maliya Boys family, Liman and Sa’idu!” the club posted.
Liman arrives with a wealth of NPFL experience, having previously featured for Akwa United, Lobi Stars, and Sunshine Stars before his spell at Niger Tornadoes. Renowned for his vision, composure, and ability to unlock defences with incisive passing, the creative midfielder is expected to add quality and leadership to Barau FC’s engine room.
Sa’idu also joins from Niger Tornadoes, providing additional depth and energy in midfield as Barau continue to strengthen their squad for the new campaign. The club has not disclosed the transfer fees or the duration of the players’ contracts.
The signings underline Barau FC’s growing ambition following an impressive debut NPFL campaign. After earning promotion to the top flight, the Kano outfit exceeded expectations by finishing eighth in the league while also lifting the Kano FA Cup.
Backed by club owner and Deputy Senate President Senator Barau I. Jibrin, and under the leadership of club president Shawall Barau Jibrin, the Maliya Boys have quickly established themselves as one of the league’s emerging forces.
With Liman’s creativity and Sa’idu’s added midfield depth, Barau FC will be aiming to build on last season’s success and challenge for a continental qualification spot when the 2026/27 NPFL season gets underway.
