Dutch giants Ajax have reportedly identified Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare as a potential attacking reinforcement ahead of the new season, with the Super Eagles forward emerging as one of several options under consideration.
The 25-year-old has endured a turbulent spell at Wolverhampton Wanderers since joining the Championship club from Belgian side Genk last summer. His time at Molineux has been overshadowed by transfer speculation and reports of a training ground disagreement after he allegedly refused to leave a first-team session, an incident that reportedly led to its cancellation.
Arokodare has been strongly linked with a move away from Wolves following the collapse of a proposed transfer to Italian Serie A side Fiorentina. Turkish outfit Trabzonspor and Italian club Genoa have also been credited with interest, while the striker is believed to be eager to secure a fresh challenge before the transfer window closes.
Ajax are actively reshaping their squad after several changes in attack. Wout Weghorst has departed; Chuba Akpom is no longer part of the club’s plans, while youngsters Don-Angelo Konadu and Julian Rijkhoff could also leave. Although Brazilian forward Marcos Leonardo has already arrived, the Amsterdam club remains in the market for another striker.
Standing at over 1.95 metres, Arokodare offers a commanding aerial presence, physicality, and the ability to lead the line qualities Ajax believes could complement their evolving attacking setup.
For the Nigerian international, a move to the Eredivisie could provide the regular first-team football needed to revive his career and strengthen his position in Eric Chelle’s Super Eagles squad ahead of upcoming international competitions.
