Premier League side West Ham United have reportedly seen a €30 million bid for Nigerian defender Chibuike Nwaiwu rejected, with Turkish club Trabzonspor holding out for a fee of at least €35 million.
The 22-year-old centre-back has become one of the hottest defensive prospects in European football following an outstanding rise since joining Trabzonspor earlier this year.
Trabzonspor Stand Firm
West Ham’s offer is understood to be the latest in a series of approaches for the Super Eagles defender, but Trabzonspor remain determined not to sell unless their valuation is met.
The Turkish club reportedly believes Nwaiwu is worth more than €35 million after his rapid development in the Süper Lig and sees no reason to cash in unless a substantially improved offer arrives.
Having signed the Nigerian from Austrian side Wolfsberger AC for around €5.5 million in January 2026, Trabzonspor could make a huge profit if they eventually decide to sanction a transfer.
