Danish Superliga side FC Midtjylland have completed the signing of Nigerian forward Stanley Iheanacho, bringing the talented attacker back to the club on a permanent deal that runs until December 2030.
The 21-year-old rejoins Midtjylland after spending two productive seasons with Portuguese outfit CD Mafra, where he continued his development and established himself as one of the club’s most promising attacking players.

Iheanacho enjoyed a successful spell in Portugal, scoring 17 goals in 65 appearances while operating primarily as a right winger but also featuring across the forward line. His performances attracted attention and convinced Midtjylland that he was ready to return and compete at a higher level.
Born on May 18, 2005, the Nigerian attacker stands at 1.86 metres and is widely regarded for his pace, direct running, and ability to create danger in the final third. His versatility allows him to play on either wing or through the centre, giving his coaches multiple tactical options.
The move marks a return to familiar surroundings for Iheanacho, who previously developed within Midtjylland’s system before leaving in 2024 to gain regular first-team football with Mafra. That decision now appears to have paid dividends, with the Danish club rewarding his progress with a long-term contract.
Midtjylland have built a strong reputation for identifying and developing African talent, with former Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu among the notable success stories to emerge from the club. The Danish side will be hoping Iheanacho can follow a similar path and become a key figure both domestically and in European competitions.

In announcing the deal, the club described the transfer as the beginning of a new chapter for the Nigerian forward, who returns with considerably more experience and maturity than when he first arrived in Denmark.
For Iheanacho, the challenge now is to translate his promising form in Portugal into consistent performances in the Danish Superliga. With Midtjylland regularly competing for league titles and European qualification, the move presents an opportunity to showcase his talent on a bigger stage.
The transfer is also positive news for Nigerian football, as another young attacker continues to progress within Europe’s competitive leagues. Strong performances in Denmark could potentially place Iheanacho on the radar of Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle as Nigeria continues to monitor emerging talents across Europe.
Midtjylland supporters will be eager to see whether Stanley Iheanacho can make an immediate impact and help the club challenge for silverware during the 2026/27 campaign.
