Leeds United Eye Summer Move for Nigeria’s Zaidu Sanusi

Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing Nigerian left-back Zaidu Sanusi from FC Porto this summer as they prepare for potential reinforcements in defense. According to Africa Foot (via Sport Witness), the Whites are targeting the 27-year-old, who has struggled for game time in Portugal this season.

Sanusi has been with Porto since 2020, making 128 appearances and scoring seven goals. However, he has featured just six times in all competitions this season, three of which have come in the league. With his contract running until 2027, Porto may be open to offers, especially given his limited role in the squad.
Leeds’ interest in Sanusi comes amid uncertainty over their left-back options. Junior Firpo’s contract expires in June, and he has yet to agree to a new deal. While Leeds have Isaac Schmidt and Sam Byram available, manager Daniel Farke is keen to add more depth and competition in that position.

The club’s recruitment plans depend on their league status next season. Currently second in the Championship, Leeds are pushing for automatic promotion alongside Sheffield United and Burnley. They have seven games left following their 2-2 draw with Swansea City.
A move for Sanusi would make sense, as the Nigerian international needs more playing time, and a switch to England could offer him a fresh start. However, any potential deal may hinge on Leeds securing a return to the Premier League.
