Nigerian defender Nelson Orji has completed a permanent move to Rasisalai United from fellow Thai club Muangthong United ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
The 24-year-old centre-back becomes one of Rasisalai United’s latest additions as the newly promoted club strengthens its squad for its maiden season in the Thai League 1.
A Versatile Defensive Addition
Standing at 1.88m (6ft 2in), Orji is a left-footed defender renowned for his aerial dominance, composure in possession, and tactical versatility. Although naturally a central defender, he is equally comfortable operating at left-back, giving his new club additional flexibility across the defensive line.
His profile fits the demands of a side preparing to face the challenges of top-flight football after earning promotion from Thai League 2.
From Warri to Europe
Born Orji Nelson Chukwuma in Warri, Nigeria, on April 5, 2002, the defender began his football journey at Super Star Football Academy before securing a move to FC Porto’s renowned youth system in 2020.
His development in Portugal included appearances for Porto’s U-19 side before gaining valuable senior experience during a loan spell with Zalaegerszegi TE in Hungary.
Building Experience Abroad
In 2022, Orji moved to the United States, joining Atlanta United 2, where he began establishing himself in senior football and even scored his first professional goal.
Further spells followed in Slovenia with NK Brežice 1919 before he made the switch to Muangthong United in Thailand in 2025.
Now, another move within Thailand offers him the opportunity to become a regular starter at the highest level of the country’s football pyramid.
