Replicating a transfer of Victor Osimhen’s astronomical magnitude will be a mountain too high to climb for Galatasaray, according to former vice-president Abdurrahim Albayrak.
The Nigerian talisman and former African Footballer of the Year shattered records in July 2025 when the Turkish giants triggered his €75 million (approx. N119 billion) release clause. In doing so, Galatasaray successfully hijacked the striker from Napoli, fending off aggressive, deep-pocketed pursuit from both the Saudi Pro League and Europe’s elite.
Osimhen’s arrival came on the heels of a breathtaking 2024–25 season where he spearheaded a domestic double for the Istanbul powerhouse. The blockbuster move stands uncontested as the most expensive signing in the history of Turkish football.
While Albayrak concedes that a repeat of the Osimhen megadeal is highly unlikely, he insists the club’s ultimate European ambitions remain unchanged.
“Galatasaray will certainly make good transfers,” Albayrak stated. “The dream of every Galatasaray management is to win the Champions League. God willing, just as He granted us the UEFA Cup, He will also grant us the Champions League.”
The historic marriage between club and player may be short-lived. Despite having three years left on his current contract, Osimhen is already at the center of a swirling European transfer storm.
A massive summer bidding war is brewing, with football’s heaviest hitters keeping a close eye on the striker, including:
- La Liga Giants: Barcelona & Real Madrid
- Premier League Heavyweights: Chelsea & Arsenal
- Ligue 1 Champions: Paris Saint-Germain
