Victor Osimhen is yet to report to the Super Eagles camp in Egypt ahead of Nigeria’s international friendly against the host nation.
As of the latest update, 25 players have arrived in camp, including goalkeepers Francis Uzoho, Stanley Nwabali, and Amas Obasogie.
Other players already present include Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, Semi Ajayi, Ademola Lookman, Bright Osayi-Samuel, and Igho Ogbu.
Also in camp are Tochukwu Nnadi, Zaidu Sanusi, Paul Onuachu, Frank Onyeka, Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi, Bruno Onyemaechi, Cyril Dessers, Akor Adams, Chidera Ejuke, Raphael Onyedika, Ryan Alebiosu, Salim Fago, Chidozie Awaziem, and Usman Mohammed.
Only three players are yet to arrive: Osimhen, Moses Simon, and Samuel Chukwueze.
Osimhen’s absence has drawn particular attention, especially as his club side, Galatasaray, played their most recent fixture on Saturday, December 18. With the match concluded, expectations were that the Super Eagles striker would arrive early, given his leadership role within the squad.
Turkey’s proximity to Egypt, with an estimated direct flight time of two to two and a half hours, has further heightened the scrutiny around his delayed arrival.
This is not the first time Osimhen has reported late to national team camp, with a similar situation occurring during previous World Cup qualifying playoffs.
