Abia Warriors head coach Imama Amapakabo has expressed disappointment with his team’s performance after they suffered a 1–0 home defeat to Niger Tornadoes in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The Umuahia-based side were beaten at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba on Sunday, October 25, in a Matchday 10 encounter that saw the visitors claim their first away victory of the 2026/27 season.
Wasiu Jimoh proved to be the difference between the teams, firing home a powerful strike in the 56th minute to secure all three points for Niger Tornadoes.

Amapakabo admitted that his side did not perform well enough and accepted that the visitors deserved their victory.
“I’m disappointed with the way we played, which also explained why we deserved to lose the game,” the Abia Warriors coach said after the match.
The former Nigeria U-23 coach also praised Niger Tornadoes for their character and resilience, acknowledging that the visitors delivered a strong performance on the road.
He described the defeat as a lesson for his players, while noting that it was Abia Warriors’ first home loss of the season.
“It is our first home defeat at home this season, but the way we played wasn’t good enough,” Amapakabo added.
The result represents a setback for Abia Warriors as they seek to build consistency in the league. Their next assignment will be another demanding test away from home against Shooting Stars in Ibadan on Sunday, November 1.
The encounter is scheduled to take place at the Lekan Salami Stadium, where Amapakabo’s side will hope to respond positively and return to winning ways.
For Niger Tornadoes, the victory provides a valuable boost as they continue their campaign, having shown they can compete away from home.
