Nigerian footballers delivered a strong showing across Europe over the weekend, with several Super Eagles stars making decisive contributions for their clubs.
Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Tolu Arokodare and Kelechi Iheanacho all found the net, while other Nigerians including Samuel Chukwueze, Akor Adams and Ebenezer Akinsanmiro also made headlines.
From Spain and Turkey to Italy, the Netherlands and England, Nigerian players continued to make their presence felt across Europe’s major leagues.
Victor Osimhen was once again at the centre of attention in the Turkish Süper Lig, the Galatasaray striker scored from the penalty spot and also produced a backheel assist as his side defeated Göztepe 3-2 in a five-goal thriller.
The performance continued Osimhen’s impressive start to the campaign and underlined his importance to Galatasaray’s attack.

Lookman produced a moment of individual quality to find the net and help Atlético secure a comfortable victory.
After moving to Madrid following his successful spell with Atalanta, the Nigerian will be hoping to establish himself as an important attacking option for the Spanish club. His latest performance provides another positive sign.
Tolu Arokodare’s impressive beginning to life at Ajax continued in the Netherlands, the towering striker scored his first Eredivisie goal of the campaign as Ajax secured a heavy away victory over Telstar.
The goal was his fourth in all competitions since joining the Dutch club, further strengthening his reputation as one of the most in-form Nigerian forwards in Europe at the moment.
Arokodare has made an immediate impact since arriving at Ajax and is quickly becoming an important attacking option.
His ability to combine physical strength with his finishing has given Ajax another dimension in attack.
Kelechi Iheanacho was also decisive in Turkey, producing a match-winning contribution for Bursaspor in the 1. Lig.

Chukwueze contributed on both sides of the game as Milan secured a clean sheet, his willingness to adapt to a different tactical role could prove valuable as the season develops, particularly if he can continue combining his attacking qualities with greater defensive responsibility.
Teenage midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro also announced himself in Italy, the Nigerian youngster provided an assist on his competitive debut for Udinese as they defeated Monza away from home.

In Switzerland, Akpe Victory came off the bench for Basel against Young Boys and immediately made an impact.
The Nigerian scored a debut goal before setting up the equaliser as Basel completed a comeback from two goals down.
These performances highlight the depth of Nigerian talent emerging across European football.
The weekend produced contrasting fortunes for Nigerian players in England, Semi Ajayi helped Hull City keep a clean sheet and secure victory over Coventry City, where fellow Nigerian Taiwo Awoniyi featured.
