The Super Eagles’s coach, Eric Chelle visited the Flying Eagles camp in Yammusoukoro, Abijan, Ivory Coast. The visit is intended to boost the confidence and show massive support for the players.
Reacting, coach Abdul Maikaba acknowledged in a statement that Chelle’s visit will motivate the players to put in more efforts into the encounters and open a door of invitation to the senior team (Super Eagles).
He further noted that chelle’s coming will spur a profound positive impact and become a guiding spirit to the boys, enabling them to do extraordinarily. “I believe bearing this in mind will push them to do more in the game’’ Maikaba said.
Maikaba extolled Chelle’s exploits and good intentions for the country, while noting his show up at the crucial games at the junior cadre with similar extension to some of the domestic league games.
Maikaba equally acknowledged Chelle’s impartiality in giving opportunities to home based talents (players) and some of the junior NFR players.
Highlights of the Visit
During the visit, Chelle noted that scouting home-based and youth players prior to their eventual moves to European clubs is a high priority. Identifying promising talent early allows the technical team to integrate them into the senior national team’s scouting database for long-term tracking.
He emphasized that the U-17 and U-20 squads form the backbone of his overarching structural project for Nigerian football, establishing continuity between youth setups and the senior Super Eagles squad.
Chelle lauded the team’s tactical responsiveness in the 3-0 win over Togo, highlighting how coach Abdu Maikaba’s halftime adjustments to press higher up the pitch forced key errors and generated high-quality chances.
