Former Super Eagles winger Victor Moses rolled back the years with a superb performance on Wednesday, scoring a goal and providing an assist as FC Kaysar Kyzylorda defeated FK Zhenys 3-1 in the first leg of the Kazakhstan Cup semi-finals.

The 35-year-old Nigerian was at the heart of Kaysar’s victory at Kaysar Arena, producing two decisive first-half contributions to put his side in a commanding position ahead of the return leg.

Kaysar made a dream start to the contest, taking the lead in just the fourth minute through Nurali Zhaksylyk after Moses won possession on the left flank and delivered a perfectly timed assist.

The visitors responded almost immediately, with Andrija Filipović equalising in the eighth minute to restore parity.

However, Moses ensured Kaysar regained control before the break. After a VAR review awarded the hosts a penalty for handball, the experienced Nigerian calmly converted from the spot in the 45th minute to make it 2-1.

Having delivered a goal and an assist, Moses was substituted in the 76th minute after another influential display.

The result gives Kaysar a healthy two-goal advantage heading into the second leg, which will be played on August 19 in Astana.

Born in Kaduna, Nigeria, on December 12, 1990, Moses has enjoyed one of the most accomplished careers of any Nigerian footballer of his generation.
