Italian giants AC Milan have reportedly halted the planned permanent transfer of Nigerian midfielder Victor Eletu to Serie C side Pescara, giving the youngster another opportunity to impress during the club’s pre-season preparations.
The 21-year-old had already agreed to personal terms with Pescara, who are pushing for promotion back to the higher divisions of Italian football. However, Milan stepped in to stop the move, opting to keep the midfielder at the club for the time being.
The decision means Eletu will now continue training with the Rossoneri during pre-season as the club assesses his future ahead of the new campaign.
Although Milan have blocked the transfer for now, reports suggest that a move away before the close of the summer transfer window has not been completely ruled out. No official decision has been made regarding whether Eletu will be part of head coach Ruben Amorim’s first-team plans or continue his development with the club’s reserve setup.
A Product of Milan’s Academy
Born on April 1, 2005, in Lagos, Nigeria, Victor Ehuwa Eletu began his football journey at the Prince Kazeem Eletu Academy before earning a scholarship to join AC Milan.
Since arriving in Italy as a teenager, he has spent nearly seven years within Milan’s academy system, developing into one of the club’s most highly regarded midfield prospects.
A natural defensive midfielder, Eletu established himself as a key figure for the Primavera (Under-19) side, where he frequently captained the team and earned praise for his composure, passing ability and tactical intelligence.
His progress was rewarded with a professional contract before signing a contract extension in August 2025 that runs until June 2027, with an option for an additional year as part of Milan’s Milan Futuro project.
Flying Eagles Experience
Eletu represented Nigeria at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina, helping the Flying Eagles reach the quarter-finals.
While injuries have slowed his development over the past two seasons, he has continued to gain valuable experience with Milan Futuro in Italy’s lower divisions and has also received occasional call-ups to train with the senior squad.
His maturity, positional discipline and ability to dictate play from deep remain qualities that have kept him highly regarded within the club.
Opportunity to Impress
Milan’s decision to cancel the proposed move provides Eletu with another opportunity to stake his claim under new manager Ruben Amorim, who took charge ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Whether that leads to first-team opportunities, another loan spell or a permanent transfer later in the window remains uncertain, but the Nigerian midfielder now has the chance to prove he deserves a place in Milan’s long-term plans.
For Pescara, missing out on Eletu is a setback as they continue building a squad capable of challenging for promotion. For the player, however, remaining at one of Europe’s biggest clubs could yet prove to be an important turning point in his career.
