Rangers International Football Club have reaffirmed their faith in head coach Fidelis Ilechukwu by extending his contract for another year, ensuring the highly-rated tactician remains in charge of the Flying Antelopes as they prepare for a new chapter of domestic and continental challenges.
The contract extension was finalized on Saturday following Ilechukwu’s return from national team duties, securing his stay at the Enugu-based club for a fourth consecutive season.
The decision comes on the back of a successful spell under the coach, who has established himself as one of the most respected managers in Nigerian football.
With Rangers set to return to continental competition and the CAF Champions League after their Nigeria Premier Football League triumph, the club’s hierarchy has moved swiftly to maintain stability on the technical bench.
Speaking after putting pen to paper on the new agreement, Ilechukwu expressed gratitude to the Enugu State Government, the club’s management, and the supporters for their continued confidence in his leadership.
“I want to thank the government and the good people of Enugu State for their support and belief in our project,” Ilechukwu said.
“We are focused and ready to give our best, especially now that we are returning to continental football. We are working hard to strengthen the squad and ensure that Rangers remain competitive at the highest level.”
The extension signals Rangers’ determination to build on their recent achievements and maintain their upward trajectory both at home and on the African stage.
Rangers General Manager and Chief Executive Officer, Amobi Ezeaku, welcomed the continuation of the partnership, praising the coach’s commitment and contribution to the club’s success.
“I am happy that we will continue this journey together for another year. Thank you, Coach, for your dedication and commitment to the club. Congratulations once again,” Ezeaku stated.
The Rangers CEO further revealed that the coach’s contract had been improved as part of the club’s broader commitment to creating an environment that allows both the technical crew and players to thrive.
“His contract has been elevated, and we’ve made everything possible for both him and the players to strive in the club. This is what we have going forward,” he added.
