Rangers International General Manager Amobi Ezeaku has moved swiftly to shut down speculation surrounding the club’s technical bench, confirming that head coach Fidelis Ilechukwu is going nowhere. However, in a surprising twist, Ezeaku revealed that his own future with the Flying Antelopes remains up in the air.
Speaking during an interactive session with the Enugu State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) on Friday, the Rangers chief laid out the club’s blueprint for the upcoming season, covering everything from squad retention and international partnerships to a stadium ban for a prominent social media influencer.
Ilechukwu Stays, Ezeaku’s Future Uncertain
Rangers fans can breathe a sigh of relief regarding their technical crew. Ezeaku was categorical that Ilechukwu, who guided the team through a rigorous campaign, will remain at the helm.
“Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu remains our coach and will continue with Rangers International,” Ezeaku stated emphatically.
While the coaching situation is secure, the front office faces potential upheaval. Ezeaku disclosed that he is contemplating his own future and will make a definitive announcement within the next three weeks.

Stadium Ban and Nationwide Crackdown on Influencer
In a bold disciplinary move, Ezeaku announced that social media influencer Amaechi Foundation has been barred from entering the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium. The club is currently working with football authorities to extend this restriction to every stadium across Nigeria.
According to the GM, the influencer’s online commentary has crossed the line, actively damaging team morale and disrupting internal operations.
The writings and publications of Amaechi Foundation have caused problems for the team and its management; we are not happy, especially our coach,” Ezeaku explained. “The process is also ongoing to ensure that he is restricted from other stadiums in the country.”
Government Rewards and Squad Continuity
On a brighter note, the Rangers boss showered praise on Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah for his massive financial backing and appreciation of the team. The governor recently rewarded the players with highly lucrative real estate assets.
“The governor has done very well,” Ezeaku noted. The plots of land allocated to the players are worth about ₦40 million each.
With the roster motivated by government backing, management intends to keep the core group together for the upcoming campaign. Squad disruption will be kept to an absolute minimum.
“We will retain most of our players,” Ezeaku revealed. At the moment, only about four players may be leaving the club.”
Global Partnerships and African Ambitions
Looking beyond domestic borders, Ezeaku announced that Rangers are expanding their global footprint. The club has secured a brand-new collaboration agreement with Spanish Segunda División side CD Tenerife while successfully maintaining their existing partnership with Swiss outfit FC Schaffhausen.
These European alliances are designed to bolster the club’s infrastructure and technical development as they prepare to return to the continental stage.
When asked about the club’s ultimate objective for the upcoming season, Ezeaku did not mince words. Backed by a stable coaching staff, a retained core, and strong international ties, the Flying Antelopes are aiming for the absolute pinnacle of African football.
