The President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF), Hon. Daniel Igali, has praised the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Chris Musa, for his commitment to sports development and capacity building for military personnel.

Igali’s commendation follows the CDS’s approval to sponsor Lieutenant Colonel Timipre Okou to attend the 3rd World Beach Wrestling Series and the African Beach Wrestling Championship in Casablanca, Morocco, from September 2-8, 2025. The events will feature U15, U17, and U20 age categories.

In a statement released through the NWF Media Assistant, Promise Okotoko, Igali expressed his delight, applauding General Musa’s keen interest in developing sports within and beyond the military. He described the CDS’s focus on enhancing national security through sporting initiatives and sponsoring military personnel for international courses as an “inspiring nation-building policy.”

“We are very proud of the innovations of the CDS aimed at enhancing the ability and capacity building of military personnel to perform complex tasks, which will aid national and regional security environments,” Igali said. “The CDS’s regular sponsorship of our sportsmen to international programs and refresher courses will further expose the nation’s military officers to global security awareness and tactical skills to handle salient issues.”
