Nigeria Shines Bright on Day 2 of African School Games with Four Medals in Athletics

Team Nigeria continued its dominant performance at the inaugural African School Games in Algeria, securing an impressive four medals on Day 2 of athletics. The day’s haul included one gold, two silver, and one bronze, bringing the country’s total medal count to six in athletics events.

The standout moment came in the girls’ 100m final, where Nigeria’s Chigozie Rosemary Nwankwo sprinted to victory in a time of 11.76 seconds, clinching the gold. Her teammate, Miracle Ezechukwu, also showcased exceptional speed, finishing second with a time of 11.86 seconds to claim the silver. Congo’s Ndoulou Boukama took home the bronze, crossing the line in 12.19 seconds.

In the girls’ 400m final, Jecinter Lawrence Andrew displayed remarkable composure and skill, securing second place and another silver medal for Nigeria. Meanwhile, in the boys’ 400m final, Faye Perfect fought valiantly through a competitive field to secure the bronze, rounding off a successful day for the Nigerian team on the track.

With these results, Team Nigeria’s athletics squad continues to assert its dominance at the African School Games, maintaining a strong medal presence. The team remains focused on upcoming finals and is determined to keep the momentum going in the days ahead.
