Barnsley Coach Conor Hourihane has stated in a pre-match press conference that Nigeria international midfielder Kelechi Nwakali will be disengaged before summer transfer window winds down.
The 26-year old has been ostracised from the first- team training after a late return from holidays in Nigeria.
Barnsley’s move clearly shows the club was determined not to feature Kelechi in recent matches against Plymouth Argyle, Burton Albion, Fleetwood Town and Bolton Wanderers.
The Super Eagles’ midfielder seems to have reputation of being involuntarily terminated as evidenced by his former Spanish club, Huesca who disengaged him for similar indiscipline.
Speaking ahead of the clash with Peterborough United, Hourihane confirmed that Kelechi will be allowed to part with the club. “Yes, that’s the plan” he firmly said.
Kelechi still has two years left to complete his contract with the Tykes, having made 26 appearances in all competitions last season.
