Kwara United players have been rewarded with ₦5 million and a plot of land each by Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq after their historic win in the 2025 President’s Federation Cup.

The Ilorin-based team defeated Abakaliki FC 4–3 on penalties at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena after a goalless draw in regulation time, securing their first-ever national title and sealing a spot in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.

The players were received in Ilorin with a massive celebration that included a victory parade through the city and a grand reception at the Banquet Hall. Governor AbdulRazaq praised the team’s resilience and described the victory as a turning point for sports in the state. He noted that Kwara United, once drowning in debt in 2019, had now risen to national recognition.

The Governor described the Federation Cup as Nigeria’s most prestigious football trophy and dedicated the win to the late Alhaji Yusuf Salami, a devoted supporter of the club who passed away before witnessing this breakthrough.
