Musa Kida Appointed Non-Executive Chairman of NNPC Limited Board

According to a report by an online media platform, Engr. Musa Kida, the President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), has been appointed as the non-executive chairman of the NNPC Limited Board by President Bola Tinubu.

The reconstitution of the NNPC Limited Board, approved by President Tinubu, also saw the removal of the former chairman, Chief Pius Akinyelure, and Group CEO Mallam Mele Kolo Kyari. The new 11-member board includes Engineer Bashir Bayo Ojulari as the Group CEO, alongside Kida as the non-executive chairman.

Additionally, Adedapo Segun, who succeeded Umaru Isa Ajiya as Chief Financial Officer in November, has been appointed to the new board.

The board also includes six non-executive directors representing Nigeria’s geopolitical zones: Bello Rabiu from North West, Yusuf Usman from North East, and Babs Omotowa, former MD of Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG), from North Central. Austin Avuru represents the South-South, David Ige the South West, and Henry Obih the South East.

Mrs. Lydia Shehu Jafiya, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Finance, will represent the ministry on the board, while Aminu Said Ahmed will represent the Ministry of Petroleum Resources.

These appointments are effective as of today, April 2, 2025.
