Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, received a major boost on Tuesday with the arrival of veteran guard Sarah Ogoke ahead of their quarterfinal match at the ongoing 2025 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket tournament in Ivory Coast.

Ogoke, a key figure in Nigeria’s past triumphs, missed the group stage but has now linked up with the squad as they step up preparations for Thursday’s decisive knockout game. Despite her absence, the reigning champions impressed in the group phase, securing consecutive wins over Rwanda and Mozambique to top their group.

D’Tigress will face the winner of the round-of-16 tie between Angola and Cameroon, with a spot in the semifinals at stake. The arrival of Ogoke, known for her leadership and intensity on the court, is expected to further strengthen the team as they aim to defend their continental crown.

Nigeria are seeking their fourth consecutive Afrobasket title, having previously lifted the trophy in 2017, 2019, and 2021.
