Sporting Lagos secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Inter Lagos in their local derby at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, on Sunday.
Sodiq Ayoade gave Sporting Lagos an early advantage, opening the scoring in the seventh minute.
Inter Lagos struggled to find a way back into the game as Sporting Lagos held on to their lead going into the break.
The visitors continued their strong performance after the restart and were rewarded with two more goals.
Aliyu Baba doubled Sporting Lagos’ advantage before Valentine Ogwu completed the scoring to give his side a comfortable 3-0 win.
Elsewhere, Barau FC came from behind to defeat Ranchers Bees 3-1 at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.
Ahmadu Liman put Barau ahead shortly before the half-hour mark, but Ranchers Bees drew level 10 minutes from full time through Mohammed Rabiu Zulkifilu.
Barau responded strongly in the closing stages, with Kennedy Otunuya and Sugau Aliyu scoring late to secure all three points for the hosts.
In Aba, Abia Warriors and Ikorodu City played out a 2-2 draw.
Emeka Obioma scored twice for Abia Warriors, while Ilechukwu Junior and Akorede Adeoye found the net for Ikorodu City.
Bendel Insurance also claimed a home victory, defeating Kun Khalifat FC 4-2 in a six-goal encounter at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.
Alex Oweilayefa, Suraju Lawal and Chinedu Nwosu put Bendel Insurance 3-0 ahead before Uchechukwu Onuoha pulled one back for Kun Khalifat from the penalty spot in the 68th minute.
Nwosu restored Bendel Insurance’s three-goal lead just three minutes later, while Oghenetega Ebetomame scored five minutes from time to make it 4-2.
