Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle is continuing his efforts to convince highly rated Angers forward Peter Prosper to commit his international future to Nigeria.
According to reports from Nigerian football sources, the 18-year-old remains firmly on Chelle’s radar despite the recent addition of teenage striker George Ilenikhena to the national team setup.
Born in France to Nigerian parents, Prosper is eligible to represent both countries at a senior level. Although he has featured for France’s U-19 national team, scoring once at youth level, FIFA regulations still allow him to switch allegiance as he has not yet earned a senior cap for Les Bleus.
Prosper enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with Angers during the 2025/26 Ligue 1 season, making 29 appearances and scoring five goals as he established himself as one of the club’s brightest young attacking talents.
His impressive performances have attracted attention beyond club football, with Chelle reportedly making direct contact with the player’s representatives in a bid to persuade him to choose the green and white of Nigeria.
The pursuit comes shortly after Nigeria secured the international commitment of another exciting teenage forward, George Ilenikhena, who recently agreed to represent the Super Eagles after discussions with Chelle.
The Nigeria coach appears determined to continue strengthening his attacking options with young, high-potential talents capable of leading the national team into the future.
Prosper is currently recovering from a hamstring injury but is expected to return to action later this year. His pace, movement, and eye for goal have made him one of the emerging talents to watch in French football.
Chelle’s recruitment drive reflects a broader strategy of attracting dual-national players developed in Europe’s top academies while blending them with established Super Eagles stars such as Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface, and George Ilenikhena.
