Trabzonspor Submit Loan Offer for Super Eagles Striker Tolu Arokodare

3 Min Read

Turkish Süper Lig outfit Trabzonspor have made the first concrete move for Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare, submitting a loan offer to English side Wolverhampton Wanderers as they look to reinforce their attack ahead of the 2026/27 season.

According to reports from Turkish journalist Zeki Uzundurukan and several Nigerian football outlets, the Black Sea Storm have identified Arokodare as a priority target following the departure of Brazilian forward Felipe Augusto to the Russian club Zenit St Petersburg.

The 25-year-old Super Eagles international, who stands at an imposing 1.97 metres, joined Wolves from Belgian side KRC Genk in September 2025 for a reported fee of £23.4 million, signing a four-year contract with the option of an additional year.

Despite arriving with high expectations, Arokodare endured a difficult debut campaign in England. Limited playing opportunities and Wolves’ relegation from the Premier League restricted his impact, leaving the Nigerian striker searching for more consistent first-team football.

Trabzonspor believe a loan move could benefit both player and club. The Turkish side is keen to add a physical presence and proven goal scorer to their frontline, while Arokodare would have the opportunity to play regularly in one of Europe’s competitive top-flight leagues.

For Wolverhampton Wanderers, however, the decision is far from straightforward. The championship club is preparing for a promotion push back to the Premier League, and the manager and club officials must determine whether allowing Arokodare to leave on loan aligns with their plans for the upcoming season.

Arokodare also brings valuable international experience, having featured for the Super Eagles during FIFA World Cup qualifying campaigns. His blend of aerial dominance, strength, and finishing ability has made him one of Nigeria’s most highly regarded forwards in recent years.

While Trabzonspor have taken the first official step, the transfer saga could gather momentum in the coming weeks, with other clubs expected to monitor the situation closely should Wolves decide against the Turkish club’s proposal.

Neither Wolverhampton Wanderers nor Trabzonspor has released an official statement regarding the reported loan offer, but the coming days are expected to provide greater clarity on the future of the Nigerian international.
