Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika will likely miss the remainder of the season after suffering an injury in Club Brugge’s 2-1 defeat to Royale Union SG on Sunday.
The setback came on a day meant for celebration, as Onyedika turned 25 years old.
Club Brugge took an early lead in the 15th minute through Brandon Mechele, only for Mateo Biondic to equalize for Royale Union SG 14 minutes later, keeping the score tied at halftime.
Onyedika struggled in the second half and was forced off the pitch, replaced by Hans Vanaken.
Just twelve minutes after his departure, Besfort Zeneli scored the winning goal for Royale Union SG, securing a crucial victory in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League.
The exact nature of Onyedika’s injury has not been confirmed.
With only a handful of matches remaining, there is a risk he may miss key fixtures, including a pivotal rematch against Royale Union SG.
