Victor Osimhen has spoken for the first time after undergoing surgery on a fractured right forearm in Istanbul, delivering a message that could lift spirits at Galatasaray during a crucial stage of the season.
The Nigerian striker sustained the injury during a UEFA Champions League clash against Liverpool FC, forcing him to leave the pitch and undergo immediate medical treatment.
The procedure, led by club doctor Yener İnce, was confirmed to be successful. Surgeons inserted a plate in his arm before placing it in a splint, with the striker expected to begin recovery almost immediately.
Despite the setback, Osimhen showed leadership from his hospital bed. Speaking to club officials, including president Dursun Özbek, he declared confidently.
“We will be champions, my president.”
That statement has quickly resonated with fans, especially as Galatasaray navigate a tight title race.
Özbek later reassured supporters, confirming the striker’s condition is stable and recovery is on track.
“He is perfectly healthy. The surgery was very successful, and we hope to see him back on the pitch as soon as possible,” he said.
Medical staff will now monitor Osimhen daily, with the club promising regular updates on his rehabilitation progress.
Race Against Time for Key Fixtures
Osimhen is expected to be sidelined for around five weeks, ruling him out of important league fixtures, including clashes against Trabzonspor and Gençlerbirliği.
However, there is growing optimism that he could return in time for the decisive derby against Fenerbahçe on April 26 a match that could ultimately define the title race.
Galatasaray currently hold a slim four-point lead over their Istanbul rivals, leaving little room for error in the coming weeks.

Osimhen’s impact this season has been undeniable. With 12 league goals and 19 across all competitions, he has been central to Galatasaray’s attacking threat.
Manager Okan Buruk will now rely on experienced names like Mauro Icardi and Leroy Sané to step up in his absence.
