The pivotal moment of the contest came shortly after the break when Uganda were reduced to 10 men substitute goalkeeper Jamal Salim was sent off in the 56th minute for deliberately handling the ball outside the area to deny a clear goalscoring opportunity.

Nigeria wasted no time exploiting the advantage. Raphael Onyedika scored twice in quick succession, first in the 62nd minute and again in the 67th minute, with both goals coming from incisive team build‑up play. Onyedika’s first goal was expertly set up by Samuel Chukwueze, who helped stretch Uganda’s defence throughout the match.

Uganda pulled one back in the 75th minute through Rogers Mato, who capitalised on a through ball to score a consolation goal, but the visitors never seriously threatened to overturn Nigeria’s growing advantage.

The Super Eagles’ victory marks a strong end to the group stage, with Nigeria topping Group C on nine points and demonstrating depth and attacking cohesion despite squad rotation. Uganda’s tournament comes to an end, leaving the Cranes eliminated after a spirited but ultimately insufficient campaign.
