Fulham and Wales midfielder Harry Wilson has praised Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi for his moment of brilliance that set up Fulham’s equaliser in their 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace, Soccernet.ng reports.

Marco Silva’s side hosted Crystal Palace at Craven Cottage in a tier-2 London derby, but it was the away team who took the lead on the hour mark through Eddie Nketiah.

Iwobi, usually deployed in a more attacking role, operated in a deeper midfield pivot alongside Sander Berge.

His moment of magic came in the 37th minute, when his precise pass found Raul Jimenez at the edge of the box.

The Mexican striker quickly linked up with Wilson, who curled a sublime finish with the outside of his left foot past Dean Henderson to level the scores.

Reflecting on the goal, Wilson said, “It would’ve felt a lot nicer if the goal had led to three points. Still, it was a well-worked goal.

“Alex’s pass into me was great.

“I knew Raul was there for the one around the corner, and he gave me a perfect ball back for me to just use the outside of my left foot to find the far corner.

“It was a good goal, one I quite enjoyed. I’m just gutted it didn’t lead to anything.”

Fulham’s spirits were further dampened when Emile Smith-Rowe appeared to give the hosts the lead in the second half, only for the goal to be ruled out after Samuel Chukwueze was marginally offside.

Wilson expressed his frustration at the decision, echoing coach Marco Silva’s disappointment.

“I looked and saw how small the margins were,” Wilson said.

“The margins either get you the win or make you lose points. Sometimes it goes for you, and sometimes it goes against you. When the margins are that small, and they go against you, it really hurts because I think it was a well-worked goal down the left.

“Alex is unlucky with the header, and Emile follows it up really well. He deserved the goal, and again, fine margins, it’s a tough one to take.”

Fulham now face a challenging run of fixtures, with their next six Premier League games scheduled against Burnley, Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest, West Ham United, Crystal Palace, and Liverpool on New Year’s Day.
