Two Nigerian teenagers are making waves in English football, earning spots on the Premier League 2 Player of the Month shortlist for November.
West Ham’s Emeka Adiele is in sensational form, contributing directly to 11 goals in 14 games across Premier League 2, EFL Trophy, and National League Cup. The 18-year-old scored in a 1-1 draw with Wolves and set up a goal in a 3-0 triumph over Liverpool.
Stoke City’s Favour Fawunmi, Adiele’s former West Ham teammate, also impressed by scoring in back-to-back games against West Brom and Crystal Palace. Fawunmi has been involved with Stoke’s first team in five games this season, including two Carabao Cup starts.
They face stiff competition from a Fulham trio—Oliver Gofford, Farhaan Ali Wahid, Jonathan Esenga—alongside Middlesbrough’s Sonny Finch, Nottingham Forest’s Kalum Thompson, and Everton goalkeeper George Pickford.
The winner, selected by the Premier League Football Development Panel, will be announced next week.
