RB Leipzig have decided against sending Suleman Sani out on loan for the 2026/27 season, with the Bundesliga club instead planning to integrate the Nigerian youngster into their first-team squad.
According to reports, Leipzig have informed the 19-year-old’s representatives that he will remain with the senior team this season despite interest in a potential loan move that would have guaranteed more playing time.
The decision comes after Sani made a full recovery from the injuries that disrupted the early stages of his career in Germany. The Nigerian winger is now back in full training and taking part in the club’s pre-season preparations.
Sani joined RB Leipzig from Slovak side AS Trenčín in January 2026 on a long-term contract running until 2031, with the Bundesliga outfit reportedly paying a base fee of around €5 million for one of Nigeria’s brightest young prospects.
Although he is yet to make his senior debut for Leipzig, the club remain convinced of his long-term potential and believe he is ready to compete for opportunities at the highest level.
The youngster is expected to benefit from changes within Leipzig’s attacking department, with Ivorian winger Yan Diomande widely expected to complete a blockbuster move to Real Madrid before the transfer window closes.
Diomande’s anticipated departure would create additional competition for places on the wings, opening the door for Sani to establish himself in the first-team rotation.
Born on September 1, 2006, Sani first caught attention in Nigeria with Akwa United before earning a move to AS Trenčín, where his pace, direct running, and attacking threat attracted interest from several European clubs.
He also represented Nigeria at the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup and has since been included in the national U-23 squad by Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle, underlining his growing reputation.
Sani’s progress in Germany was initially slowed by injury setbacks, including an ankle problem shortly after arriving at the club and a subsequent hip injury, which prevented him from making a competitive appearance during the second half of last season.
Despite those frustrations, Leipzig have remained patient with the teenager and continue to view him as an important part of the club’s future.
Known for his explosive pace, physical strength, and relentless work rate, Sani fits Leipzig’s philosophy of developing young talents capable of competing at the highest level.
