Flying Eagles head coach Abdu Maikaba insists his team is out for revenge when they face Burkina Faso in Sunday’s WAFU B U-20 Championship final at the Stade Charles Konan Banny in Yamoussoukro.
Beyond the regional title, the high-stakes rematch carries extra weight: the winner secures WAFU B’s second qualifying spot alongside Ghana for the 2027 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
Burkina Faso handed Nigeria a -0 defeat during the group stage, but Maikaba is confident the Young Stallions won’t get the better of his side a second time.
“I think this is an opportunity for us to redeem ourselves having lost to Burkina Faso in the group stage,” Maikaba said. “Having played them before, we now have an idea of their shape and structure, and we are working on how to capitalize on their weaknesses while consolidating our own strengths.”
The final is scheduled to kick off at 7:00 PM West Africa Time (WAT).
