Incoming Trabzonspor winger Aral Şimşir has spoken about his ambitions ahead of the new season, saying he intends to create scoring chances for Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu.
The 24-year-old arrived in Trabzon on a private jet on Tuesday and spoke to reporters shortly after landing.
“My first priority is to score goals and provide assists,” Şimşir said, outlining his goals for the campaign.
“I want to do the same in the national team. I am used to playing as a number 10 and on the left wing. I enjoy playing in these positions.”
Şimşir also spoke about linking up with Onuachu, who had a standout season for Trabzonspor.
“I will do my best. I will do everything I can to help Onuachu score a goal,” Şimşir added.
Onuachu completed a permanent move to Trabzonspor from Southampton last summer.
He finished the Turkish Süper Lig campaign as its top scorer, netting 22 goals and registering two assists across 30 appearances, and played a role in the club’s qualification for European competition.
Trabzonspor are reportedly on the verge of finalising Şimşir’s move from Danish Superliga side FC Midtjylland. The deal is said to be worth an initial €13 million, with a further €2 million in performance-related bonuses included.
