Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle is intensifying his search for fresh talent, with Femi Azeez emerging as a top target ahead of next month’s Unity Cup in London.
Born in England to a Nigerian father and Spanish mother, the 24-year-old winger is eligible to represent three nations internationally. However, reports indicate he is leaning toward committing his future to Nigeria.
According to Colin Udoh, Chelle is closely monitoring Azeez and could hand him his first international call-up for the upcoming tournament at The Valley.
Azeez has been one of the standout performers for Millwall FC this season, playing a key role in their promotion push.
The former Reading FC attacker has recorded an impressive 17 goal involvements in 33 league appearances, earning a place in the EFL Championship Team of the Season.
The exciting winger is managed by London-based agency ARETÉ, which also represents Arthur Okonkwo another player reportedly being tracked by Chelle.
While Everton FC midfielder Tim Iroegbunam has also been linked to the Super Eagles, he is unlikely to feature at the Unity Cup due to his provisional ties to England.
In contrast, Azeez remains uncapped at senior international level, making him eligible for a seamless switch.
With the Unity Cup fast approaching, all eyes will be on Chelle’s squad selection as Nigeria looks to strengthen its ranks with emerging talents from across Europe.
